Elevate your vintage collection with this exquisite Hector Aguilar bracelet from Taxco, Mexico, circa 1949-1955. Marked "MEX" and with the Eagle 31 hallmark associated with Aguilar's Taller Borda workshop, this Art Deco-inspired piece features geometric silver links set with elongated baguette-cut clear rhinestones and surrounding round brilliants for dazzling sparkle. Crafted in sterling silver with rhodium plating for shine, the non-stretching articulated design includes a secure fold-over clasp. It's in good vintage condition with minor wear on the backside, embodying the bold modernism of Aguilar's era. Fun Facts: Hector Aguilar (1905-1986) was a prominent Taxco silversmith who started at William Spratling's workshop before founding his own in 1939. This type of bracelet was popular during Hollywood's Golden Age, where actresses wore affordable sparkle to mimic high-end jewelry. Rhinestones were used to imitate diamonds, with baguette cuts providing elongated sparkle and contrast to the round brilliants. Art Deco jewelry originated in Paris around the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs, blending influences from Cubism, Egyptian motifs, and machinery. Costume versions democratized the look after the Great Depression.
