Fun Fact: Johnson Brothers was a prominent English pottery company founded in 1883, known for producing durable ironstone and earthenware dinnerware with transfer-printed designs inspired by historical and scenic themes. The "Tulip Time" pattern, specifically the blue-on-white variant draws from traditional Dutch Delftware aesthetics, featuring pastoral landscapes reminiscent of 17th-18th century European blue and white pottery. These pieces were produced in England from 1962 to 1977, after which the pattern was discontinued. The marking on the back—"Tulip Time, Made in England by Johnson Bros, A Genuine Hand Engraving"—is standard for this line, indicating it's an authentic transferware piece where the design was engraved onto copper plates and printed onto the ceramic. Johnson Brothers was acquired by Wedgwood in 1968, but production continued under the original branding until the late 1970s for this pattern.
