Charming vintage hand-carved and hand-painted solid wood Hooded Merganser drake (male) decorative duck decoy measuring approximately 9 inches in length.

This folk-art style bird features the classic bold markings of an adult male Hooded Merganser: glossy black head with a large white cheek patch, slim black bill, rich chestnut-brown sides, black back with finely carved feather detailing that reveals the natural wood grain, and white undertail accents. The form is sleek and naturalistic in a resting pose, making it ideal for display.

Solid wood construction with hand-applied paint and carved surface texture. Perfect for rustic, lodge, cabin, farmhouse, or traditional interiors; also a nice addition for waterfowl, folk-art, or hunting-memorabilia collectors.

Approximate size: 9” long. Condition is consistent with age and prior display use. No maker’s mark visible. A classic example of mid-to-late 20th-century American decorative decoy carving that bridges hunting tradition and home décor.
